3 Daily Priorities for Every High Achiever

Some days it can feel like our calendars run us rather than the other way around. We can’t possibly fit everything in without sacrificing some of our own personal time. And that’s what most of us end up doing.

However, business management author James C. Collins once wrote, “If you have more than three priorities then you don’t have any.”

Indeed, a primary reason we let this happen is because we lack clarity on the priorities that are most important to us. If we don’t create intentional time for the few essentials, we risk slipping into a quiet mediocrity.

So, to avoid falling into this trap, let’s look at the three priorities every high achiever needs to give daily attention to.

1. Relational priorities

Maintaining strong relationships with family and friends is essential for our growth and well-being. The key relationships in our lives pull us out of ourselves to invest in others, and help shape us to become the best version of ourselves. Being present and giving time to the people most important in our lives needs to be a daily priority for every high achiever.

2. Self-care

We often make excuses for why we can’t take the for our own self-care and we’ll put it off until we’ve made it past specific work projects or life seasons. But the problem is, there is never a perfect time for self-care. If we don’t care for ourselves, everything else suffers. No one part of a person’s life can be viewed in isolation. We are holistic systems. To be a high achiever, we must create daily time for self-care and building the best version of ourselves.

3. Professional results.

To succeed, we must drive results in our professional lives. This starts by having clarity on the results we seek to produce. Once we’re clear on our ideal, we must plan, execute and deliver results that push the present business towards the one we want in the future. So everyday, ensure you’re using your unique skills and abilities to drive the results that move you forward.
