Confidence can be gained or lost in everything you do. Your thoughts, emotions and actions all have a direct impact on your confidence. So, here are five things to keep in mind for building and boosting confidence.
1. Give yourself permission to take risks.
Normalize stepping outside of your comfort zone and get used to the feeling of “this might not work.” Stretching what feels safe and comfortable for you increases your confidence. Stay open and curious to new possibilities in your world.
2. Get clear, focus and visualize your goals.
What is your vision? How clear are you about it? What is the vision? What situations, activities or areas in your life do you want to increase confidence in? Get clear about it and visualize it already happening.
3. Exercise and move your body.
No one part in a person’s life can be viewed in isolation. Improving one area improves all others. Exercising and feeling confident in your skin will create ripples that change how you show up in everything else you do.
4. Listen to your intuition.
Self-trust and confidence develops when you act on what you feel you should do and keep doing it over and over. Listening to your intuition or that internal nudge you receive gives you the confidence that you can achieve what you set your mind to.
5. Speak and script it.
Author Seth Godin says, “It is the marketing we do for ourselves, to ourselves, by ourselves, the story we tell ourselves, that can change everything.” Dr. Joseph Murphy similarly wrote,
“As you sow in your subconscious mind, so shall you reap in your body and environment.”
How you speak to yourself matters more than you know. So, speak to yourself with compassion, love and kindness. Speak and believe in the results you want until you see what is said.
